Taipei, Taiwan to import eggs from Philippines,Thailand, Turkey

  

Taipei, Taiwan is planning to import eggs amid rising prices for eggs, currently Taiwan having a shortage of egg supply and the demand is high as eggs is one of the daily needs.

Amid the rising prices for eggs, the Taiwan government is planning to import eggs from the Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and Brazil. According to COA Minister Chen Chi-chung about 1-2millions of eggs expected to arrive next week from Australia, United States and Japan as the main sources.

Egg production of Taiwan began to decline last December 2022 and fell to 22.4million per day last month February 2023. The rising cost of feed and the avian flu outbreaks, also the large temperature swings in recent months cause the shortage of eggs in Taiwan. Currently eggs in Taiwan increase NT$5 (US$0.16) or equivalent to ₱9. 00 per kilogram.
