Manila, Philippines – From Silver medal last Tokyo Olympics, Nesthy Petecio added Bronze in her Olympics resume as she came up short and loss to Julia Szeremeta of Poland in their semi-final match in women’s 57kg category.
Petecio led the scorecards in all 5 judges in the first round but Szeremeta a 20 year old unorthodox fighter pulled herself back into it and win in a split decision with 4-1.
Despite the loss, Petecio will take home the Bronze medal, Philippines now improved to 4 medals including the 2 Gold medal by Carlos Yulo and a bronze medal by Aira Villegas also in boxing in 50kg category .
Philippines now tied with Hong Kong, China in 24th spot with 2 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals.
