Mark Magsayo snatch the title from Gary Russell by majority decision 114-114, 115-113, 115-113 to become the newly WBC featherweight Champion in which Russell’s hold in almost 7 years.

Russell with (31-2) including 18 knockouts and hold the WBC featherweight title since March 28,2015, while Mark Magsayo entered the fight with (24-0) including 16 knockouts.
After the match Russell told the media that he will request a rematch, despite his injury he felt he still gave Magsayo “a good boxing match”.
The win makes Magsayo as the latest Filipino Champion in boxing and still undefeated with (25-0) , meanwhile Manny Pacquiao congratulated him for winning the title.
