Manila, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas defeated China in a thrilling semi-final game, with a final score of 77-76 upsetting the host country. After 33 Years Drought Gilas will play for Gold Medal Game against the Jordan National team.
China who led by as much as 20 points in the game and led 48-30 at the half. Gilas Pilipinas find a way in the third quarter outscoring China 20-14, Brownlee continued his masterpiece in the final period to open with 3 triples cutting the led 66-61.
Justin Brownlee led Gilas Pilipinas with 33 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists including the crucial back to back triple in the final minute as the Philippines upset the host China in their home court.
Scottie Thompson also finished in double figure with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Kevin Alas back-to-back field goals help Gilas to cut the deficit 71-67.
Gilas Pilipinas outscored China 47-28 in the second half to send the Philippines its first Gold Medal Game since 1990.
Zhao Rui led China with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. China will play against Chinese Taipei in Bronze Medal Match and Philippines will play against Jordan in the Gold Medal Game.
