Manila,Philippines – Germany is the new world champions in Fiba World Cup 2023 after defeating Serbia (83-77) at the Mall of Asia Arena on September 10, 2023, Sunday.

Dennis Schroder led Germany with 28 points and named the 2023 MVP FIBA World Cup, Franz Wagner and Johannes Voigtman also finished in double-figure with 19 points and 12 points respectively.

Germany escaped in the third after a 22-10 quarter score after a deadlock in half-time with 47 a piece. Germany 14-4 run end the third quarter with 12 points ahead “69-57”.

Serbia had the chance to tie “78-75” with under a minute, but Marco Guduric missed a wide-open triple from the corner to tie the game.

Aleksa Avramović led Serbia with 21 points, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 17 points who scored only 2 points in the 2nd half, Filip Petrušev also finished in double-figure with 10 points.

After finishing just 18th in the final standings in 2019 Fiba World Cup, now the German claim their first ever Gold Medal Trophy in Fiba World Cup ending the tournament undefeated with (8-0).
