Alex Eala makes history as the first Filipino Tennis Player to capture Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title at the Guadalajara 125 Open on Sunday, Sept. 7 (Philippine time).

Alex Eala comeback victory against Hungary’s rival Panna Udvardy with a score of (1-6, 7-5, 6-3). Eala ranked No. 75 in the world, defeated world-known WTA player such as Dutch Arianne Hartono, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round, Varvara Lepchenko in the second round 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3), 6-3, Nicole Fossa Huergo in quarterfinal 7-6 (2), 6-2 and Kayla Day in semi-final match 6-2, 6-3.

This was the first ever pro crown of Eala and will take home $15,500 for the winner of the WTA singles, which is roughly P878,803.44.
