A subsidized ₱20.00 per kilo rice program will launch this week in the Visayas provinces as Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr said during the press conference held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol together with President Marcos and governors from the Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas Central Visayas and Negros Island Region.
A subsidized ₱20.00 per kilo rice program will launch this week in the Visayas
The ₱20.00 per kilo rice will be sold to indigents, including the following below:
- senior citizens
- 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) beneficiaries
- persons with disabilities (PWDs)
- single parents
Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr also said that every family will only allowed to buy 10 kilos of rice per week or 40 kg in a month.
Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr noted that the country’s stockpile has grown from 300,000 metric tons to 358,000 metric tons due to harvest season.
